Lab or Projektgrupp - Microphone Arrays for Interview Recordings
Capturing high-quality audio in interview settings can be challenging, especially in noisy environments or when multiple speakers are involved. Traditional stereo recording devices offer simplicity but lack advanced noise suppression and speaker localization. This lab/projektgruppe explores a microphone array technology as a potential alternative, leveraging beamforming, spatial filtering, and signal processing to enhance recording quality.
Your tasks:
This lab/projektgruppe is suitable for up to three persons.
The objectives are:
- Set up and configure a microphone array on a Raspberry Pi for multi-channel recording
- Simulate and test different interview scenarios
- Analyze and compare recordings from the microphone array against our default stereo recording device
For more than one interested students:
- Develop and test a real-time beamforming microphone for a smart-speaker scenario (+1 person)
- Implement a batch-processing server for Whisper API with a web interface (+1 person)
